Markers are good for pointillism but!...remember to keep the drawing small
and very simple, an ice cream cone or a single flower.
The self-portraits will work better if they have something to work from, a
decent sized mirror (not a make-up compact) or a photo. I use Polaroids of
3 kids and snip the photo. Later in the year they have school photos.
Georgia O'Keefe: put newspaper or other paper on desks or easels, then the
drawing/painting paper. This will allow them to make the flower/leaf large
enough to go off the paper. (The tendency is to make it large but keep it
on the page. Going off-page is difficult.)
H. Matisse: Have them choose a colorful project idea, (Their bedroom,
closet, kitchen, store window, etc. No butterflies, gardens or rainbows!)
and use every color in the 16 count box. Discuss and include patterns.
That's enough for now. (g)
