What I do is take them outside to draw. Here in New Jersey it is
getting warmer, and we all would rather be outside than in. I usually
leave my perspective lessons until the spring when I can take them
outside to draw. Not only do I do mechanical perspective, but color
perspective and simple overlapping as well. In this way I can have them
draw a variety of things from observation (what art colleges crave for
in portfolios), everything from the local police department complete
with firing range, to our reservoir complete with resident swans. I
will use everything from pencils, to watercolors. If we get rained out,
we always have our thumbnail sketches to work from.....how do you think
good old Bob Ross did it, kids?
