I have found paint shirts that work very well, they are service
workers smocks. A local company donated the shirts. They are heavier
than a regular shirt and paint has yet to soak through them.
I tend to ruin my clothes and this year I tried something new, on
paint days I wear a 'painted shirt'. These are shirts that I cover with
examples of various artist's work. My Matisse shirt includes three of
his paintings. My K-6 students love the shirts, they ask questions about
the artists and I've started painting shirts that focus on artists that
we study. The best thing is that when I get a spot or stain on one of
these shirts I can simply paint over it.
