One of my parents was listening to "All Things Considered" on NPR last
Wednesday and heard a discussion of a study which explored the effect of art
education on the reading and math skills of first graders. Music ed was
also discussed (at the preschool level) but I gather the thrust was visual
art, specifically elements and principles. She said the study was due to be
published the next day in "Nature Magazine" and that the results strongly
supported arts education. Has anyone heard anything about this study? I
just received her message and have not had a chance to check the library. I
assume this would be the June edition. I would REALLY appreciate any info
anyone might have on this study (or any similar studies.) Thanks.
