I currently teach Visual Arts at an elementary K-6.
We teach 7 preps a day on block schedule that is a five day
rotation. Here is how it works. First period begins
9:10-9:50 6th grade everyday, 2nd period 9:55-10:35 4th
grade, 3rd period 10:40-11:20 3rd grade, 11:20-12:00 5th
grade, 12-12:40 lunch 12:40-1:20 prep, 1:25-2:05 1st grade
and 2:10-2:50 2nd grade. The five day rotation helps with
holiday conflicts so Monday or Friday classes don't loose
an art period, it also alllows for day zero when school wide
functions (Field Day, Special Assemblies etc.) disrupt the
schedule. Any open time in the schedule we fill with
kindergarten. Hope this helps.
