Fellow art educators do not think I have abandoned our group. It just means
that even though this is a wonderful forum , it is not quite good enough for
me to want copies in both my mailboxes!!! Now to get down to business...

Our district has just started a full time elementary art program (a
first) and I want to make sure it is a resounding success and have taken on
the job of setting it up and teaching it. Therefore we are in need of a
replacement at the middle school level.
The West Iron County School District is located in the northwoods of
Michigan an area of great natural beauty, lots of lakes, rivers,
streams,forests and wildlife.
Also a land of long cold and snowfilled winters (not exactly wimp
territory). The cost of living is extreamly low and there are virtually
limitless outdoor activities year around. We have one of the midwests best
ski resorts at our doorstep and 5 others within a 2 hour drive. Hundreds of
miles of snowmobile trails. Camping from convinient state parks to remote
primitive sites and cabins. Hike and explore waterfalls, mini-mountains,
dense forests, clean air without running into a soul. This area is sparsely
populated (deer vastly outnumber people) but the towns of Iron River and
nearby Crystal Fall offer all the basic goods and services. A 40 minute
drive provides access to shopping malls and discount chains and a full
service airport. Two State Universities are within a two hour drive. One
(Northern Michigan University) has a graduate art program, the other is
Michigan Technological University-one of the best in the country- with
hundreds of computer whizzes and geeks. Green Bay Wisconson is the nearest
metropolitin area about a 2 1/2 hr drive/ Milwaukee is 6hrs /Chicago 8/
Minneapollis(sp) will take a mere 61/2 hours. Great demand for evening
adult classes.
