I try to avoid pop psychology, but let me just note that this behavior can
also be a symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). There is a new Web
site on this very common affliction: http://www.ocdresource.com/
It's sponsored by a pharmaceutical company, but still has some useful
information about symptoms, treatments, etc.
