To follow Toms Clay story. One of my Collegues, when taking First
year Art and Design students for their very first session with clay
was demonstrating the properties of the material.
He said"Of course the really best test for plasticity is the taste test"
And proceeded to pretend to put the clay in his mouth and wiped some
of it across his lips, pretended to chew and then pronounced the clay
to be of good plasticity.
The students then all followed suit but actually put the clay into
their mouths. A collegue passing the room was astounded to see 10
19 yeart old students spitting bits of saliva covered clay into
their hankerchieves. I think that some may still no believe that they
were having their legs pulled
