Lesson Plans: - Cheap

Instead of going cheap, why not investigate local sources. We have gotten
$1000 from GTE, $200 from our power company, $350 from the local bank, and
$680 from a bank chain 60 miles away. All went for specific projects, but
they took minimal writing, and they took the pressure off the rest of the
budget. Look for help from senior citizens' group (they pose for me each
year when we do figure drawing - which makes them very interested in what
we are doing). They aren't all poor and can help in a lot of ways. The
local arts council does a residency each year (which involves supplies).
Always write a grant with SOME permanent equipment in it. When we did a
mural, most of the money went for paint, but there were 3 dozen good
brushes in there too.
Isn't it a shame that we have to do this - but as Jimmy Durante said "them
are the conditions which prevail!"
