Great advice, about the transcripts but I may have to disagree here. I never wanted to teach anything else other than art so I never got certified in anything else. During an interview for a position that was part time (and I couldn't afford to take) they asked me this and I told them no and why. They were willing to work out other ways to hire me for the position as I pushed the value of the art as CORE, academic, rigorous, etc..
I know for others it can be that safety net, but for me I have always gotten an art position when needed (after moving, etc) since 1982. Although it is hard, especially now, I do think we need to continue to act as the professionals we are and keep 'demanding" arts place in a every child's education.
