I do a unit with 4th graders on the human form. At theend of the unit we make people with tinfoil, covering them withmasking tape and then plaster strips. Working with their classroomteachers, I correlate the unit to match their social studies standardsby requiring them to make the person someone from history (that theystudy). They finish the sculpture with paint, fabric,etc... and attachto a base of matt board that they also get real creative with to make it a "scene". I have had some really interesting Abraham Lincoln andMolly Pitchers, etc. I have photos if you are interested. MaryAnn Kohlused some of my students work in her new book about famous artists.
