I need ideas for centers in the elementary artroom
Hi Sue,
It is interesting that a number of Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB)
teachers have created weblogs of the happenings in their classrooms.
They are like virtual visits! If you take time to scroll through their
photos you will see both the range and the arrangements of
possibilities for independent student work. Materials and concepts in
these centers have been introduced to students in an orderly
manner...no free for all.
I began choice art teaching in 1972 with a thought identical to yours.
But beware! You may find that the independent "free art" work becomes
more engaging to both your students and you as time goes by.
