A San Fransisco artist (Joe Aleterio http://www.joealterio.com/) is
drawing monsters and robots to raise money for San Fransisco AIDS
Marathon. The response has been so overwhelming that he had to end the
project.

As David wrote:
"This would be a fun project to adapt for school fundraising programs
as well- challenge students to draw Monsters, Robots... Animals,
Teachers, Administrators... whatever, using donor suggested
characteristics to raise money for that field trip, new kiln, etc.
etc...."
Might be fun to do animal beasties (see the mixed breed lesson plan).
Donors would submit three words and students would create the drawing
based on the three words. See if you can find a local source for some
inexpensive frames (with pre-cut mats). For X amount of dollars they
would get the drawing unmatted.... for X amount of dollars they would
get it framed. Probably is too late to get this started this year....
plan ahead for next year. Have your Art Club make some samples now
(just using pen/ink and watercolors).
