[teacherartexchange] Cool idea for year end celebration

Our 5th class has a special chapel service each year that is always a
special and fun event. They write and read their favorite lower school
memories, and they perform some pretty incredible choral pieces, various
students perform solos, some academic awards are bestowed, etc. This
year, I had a brainstorm this afternoon to make a powerpoint Art page
for each child that has their Funny Face drawing, and one other project
that is their favorite from the year. I already spent three hours on
this and got half of it done. It looks so sharp, and it will be so much
fun to look at on the big screen in our theater. I put them all on a
navy background, framed each pencil funny face portrait in red border,
and used those pretty rainbow art word letters that Powerpoint has. It
will make everybody smile to see those silly faces that they did such a
bang up job of drawing, and there will be a lot of variety too with the
addition of each kid's favorite project added to their page. I already
thought about how I can make this easier for next year, as I can see it
becoming a tradition already to have our fifth graders have their own
page of work in this presentation for this event. Instead of doing my
fifth grade mini portfolios of what each child does for the year in a
word table, I'll just create a powerpoint page for each kid at the
beginning of the year and add my photos that I take for the web anyway
into their PPT pages throughout the year. By year end, I'll either copy
it and edit it for the presentation or just delete some work from each
of their pages and use the best of their collection for the year. I
just LOVE this idea! Art rules the universe!!!
