I am glad you mentioned this.
I remembered my first year of teaching. My 6th graders really were so
appreciative of a real still life set up (spotlights and all). They said it was
their favorite thing. And I was thinking how I wished I had done this sooner.
  We had a pretty rough year with some very disruptive kids.
Anyway, I will include this next year for my current school, thanks!

PS I think black and white gives kids security by leaving color out and
concentrating on value, easier to harness I guess.
