At my school, the entire Lower School signs up for either a spring or
fall Maintenance Staff Snack Day. (We do two snack days!) They love
it. This year I had new bookshelves built from the top of my cabinets
to the ceiling with SCRAP, which means I did not have to pay a cent out
of my budget for them. Pretty groovy. This IS good advice...treat them
like royalty. The head of the maintenance Dept. received a headmaster's
award this year, and the staff is always invited to all of our faculty
parties. They are KEY to all of us!
