I have been in crisis over this whole research thing. After reading Learning
and the Arts: Crossing Boundaries, an invitational meeting in 2000, found at
the NAEA site, I have submitted a request to my professor to let me create a
body of work that utilizes some of the strategies I've learned about in my
previous classes to present to teachers in my system and here on the list for
feedback. I will base my work on Elliot Eisner's book, The Arts and Creation of
Mind, choiced-based learning, and differentiation (which may be redundant).
I've learned so much in the past year and haven't had a chance to try it out.
I want to build a 6 weeks plan that can actually be used. And I would like
for my fellow teachers to tell me what they think. I will gladly accept all
comments and criticisms.
I've just emailed my professor, so it's still up in the air, but after wading
through numerous articles I just didn't want to redo what's been done when I
have a burning need to restructure my own classroom from projects to thinking!
I sincerely appreciate the direction you have given me and will locate Alfie
Kohn's article. Sounds like just what I need for my literature review.
To all on the list:
I don't know what I did before I had you, but it wasn't nearly as good!
Thank you Kathy and thanks to the list!
