Yeah, quantity of paper is a problem, but I've found you can save paper by also not filling out a rubric for each kid (make 30 copies, and collect after the students read through them, reuse and save for each quarter). Then, at least the kids will know what you are grading them on. Then when you grade, have the rubric next to you and you will have specific guidelines for grading. If I take off points, I will write on the back of the artwork which area of the rubric it is from (along with specific comments). Does that make sense? Also, I reuse handouts quite frequently, because I found at the end of the quarter, many of them will end up in the trash anyway.
