Here's another one of Kris Fontes great technology
recycling project (you may remember her Op Art CD
lesson - using all of those AOL freebies) - Start
digging through cupboards in the tech room for old 5
/14" floppies. Floppy Disk books:

Here's a little diversion for the seventh graders as
you near the end of school. Instead of doing the same
old tired Andy Warhol manipulated images, have the
kids manipulate their own images...correct any
blemishes, etc. (OK now... She is NOT advocating that
their is anything wrong with the way they look -
smile). After they have done the "photo retouching"
she lets them liquefy their face. They talk about how
photographers, especially those that take wedding
photos and senior photos, do a LOT of manipulating and
correcting.
Her high school students did not have as easy an
assignment. Using the photo of one of their teachers
they were instructed to make her look ten years
younger by smoothing out her wrinkles, raising her
brows, etc. They have all had this teacher and she is
well liked so she didn't get any irreverent versions.
Are you up for it? Have your students give YOU an
"extreme makeover". This just might be a fun thing for
those end of the woes....Even the best fashion models'
photos are retouched.
Kris has shared many tech ideas that will be linked
from middle school lessons in the future. She will
work on putting an index on her site soon.
