We use a 1,2,3,4 grading system.
I like this because it addresses whether or not students are attempting
to learn new techniques introduced, and it addresses the thought that
students put into their work. Therefore, the student who is really
trying the techniques introduced and who is really trying to develop
their work will make a better grade than the whiz bang kids who do
whatever they want quickly and it always looks ok, but there is not much
thought in it.
