Can you kind of skip this part? I am secondary, but I emphasize the meaning
and really avoid the elements except when they specifically come up. Example:
last week I posed a problem on Wed. and on Thurs. gave them the answer. The
problem: who is this artist? The answer came the next day: a 7-minute powerpoint
and collection of his posters. It went like this...without having seen his art
yet...What kind of art would this man make? He was born in communist Bulgaria
and was part of a national service organization which selected the artists to
cover hay bales, old farm wagons and other signs of poverty characteristic of
communism. The artists covered with tarp this evidence so that it could not
be seen from the trains by visitors. In this way he lived behind the iron
curtain. But he wanted to show the freedom beyond the iron curtain after he finally
escaped to the west. His experience was with large drapings, and political
causes. What could he do, and who was he? The next day, of course, I showed and
told them about Christo. Personally, I find the elements and principles so dry!
