Larry, I have been looking at your students work and they are fantastic. I
do landscapes with my kids but we cannot get out into nature and I feel you
have gotten your kids to have that plein air feeling. I especially like the
idea of larger brushes and blocked in areas for a stronger composition rather
than small details. You are right when you say that kids want to put in
everything and miss sometimes the movement and directional flow of values and
positive/negative space relationships.

Please tell these students and your current ones how much I like their work
and I hope to push some of mine in that same direction next year. This site
and your explanations have inspired me to get my students to loosen up and
paint with feeling instead of reporting all the facts of a resource.
