Questions for AP Studio Art teachers

Date: Sun May 11 2003 - 06:26:50 PDT

I want to offer AP Studio Art next year--I have a couple of students who are quite ready for it. I placed an order (through my school) for two books from (course guide and something else) and still haven't received them (due to snafu at my school....grrrr...) so I'm clueless at this point.

I know that the portfolio at the end of the year should be extensive, but is this something that kids CAN work on during the summer, or something that they SHOULD work on this summer? Do all pieces submitted for the portfolio have to be completed during the 2003-2004 school year or can it include any work done in previous years? (I have a couple of kids who do absolutely stunning work, but they are soooooo sloooooow....)

Given how quickly the year is winding down, I need to get this info to my students as quickly as possible, and knowing a bit more about what's expected will help me to decide if a couple of other students should be recommended for this course. Please feel free to email me privately, or respond to the list.
