end of the year project

My 5th and 6th graders have been making kites....a simple sled kite out of
plastic trash bags. The kids have been creating all sorts of dragons etc.
with permanant markers...yes permanant...and it's going fine. They are so
excited to come in and work on them...tomorrow we add the bridle and
dowels....The first day I had them read about kite safety and the history of
kites....
 I did see a web site using a paper bag and newspaper for the dowels...
This has been great for the end of the year, engaging project ...and NO MESS!
