This past week I have introduced the fourth and fifth graders to the Missouri
Coin
Controversy (for those not from Missouri - Paul Jackson won the "coin toss"
and
the US Treasury wants to change his drawing to one that is very clumsy - see
PaulJackson.com). Since they all created drawings for this contest I felt
they
should know what was going on with the US Treasury and the Mo. Coin design.
Anyway on Paul Jacksons website is a hilarious editorial cartoon. So after I
told them about the design the US Treasury had come up with we discussed
Editorial Cartooning and they all created their own cartoon on the subject.
Some
are hilarious and I will forward to Paul Jackson. It was a good stepping
stone
to talk about the art of editorial cartooning. We will then move onto other
subjects
to spoof - like maybe --- school lunches!!! Great fun. Roberta
