I'm just home from Senior Awards night. We have so many kids to be proud
of.
I must say, nobody has been more miserable than I this year. I've agonized
over everything, doubted my abilities, been overwhelmed to the point where
I've had it up to here with education.
But tonight, I gave out several art awards, along with seeing dozens of my
students be recognized for achievements I didn't even know about. Seeing
the pride on all the faces in the auditorium, receiving thanks from my
students and their families, just sharing these good moments - made me stop
and think about what I do and how I can touch a young life.
Sometimes we get so involved with the trouble makers and the "troubled"
(and yes, it breaks our hearts when we sometimes can't reach them ) but
don't forget all the great young ladies and gentlemen there are out there,
who maybe, with a little luck, will carry with them something that we have
given them, for awhile at least, if not for a lifetime.
All of you
All of you worn out, burned out, ready for some summer fun souls...
Remember, you do great things
and if we didn't care so much, we wouldn't be worn out and sometimes have
broken hearts.
