I think you mean a sarcaphagus.
this is an Egyptian tomb, not a mummy.
In later Art History like in Roman and Greek art the sarcaphagi were in
bas relief and told stories about the dead guy within. Notice they were
all for the "Guys". No such snazzy digs for the women then. I did a
lesson on these tombs in HS. Kids did a drawing of some event that was
significant to them or stuff they really liked. We did them in
plasticine to create a box, then cast in pariscraft. Worked out great.
Some really neat ideas and not all rectangles. Some kids came up with
some clever tops and put memorabilia inside too. Antiqued with spray
paint and Createx. Also did this with Repousee" when teaching elementary
level art.
Guess this could contribute to the successful lesson thing. You could
also have kids write a paper for future generations and hide in a
jeweled container inside the sarcaphagus. One of mine did just that with
old jewelry and shiny thread. It was great. All kids wanted to do it
too---------isn't that neat when that happens?
Ciao-----6 more days!
