I teach in a K-8 school in Amana, Iowa. (You know, I am sure you have heard
of our microwaves and refridgerators!) The kindergarten classrooms are
actually 1/8th of a mile from my room-the teachers measured. These kids
just can't come in quietly. When I want to quiet a class I will either wait
for them to get the wiggles and conversations out of their systems,
whisper-they can't stand to think that I might be saying something they
can't hear, or I will talk as fast as I can in the most excited voice I can
muster up the energy for. All three work for me. It sure beats yelling over
them and being grouchy. Susan
