I heard that this was considered, but not the outcome. I have also heard
from some on my staff, that the school districts can have meetingswith the
parents to vote on whether to keep the start dates they want or let the state
determine. Given the mindset of our district's parents, they won't like
being told what to do! We're already being milked of all the money they can
get, to the detriment of some of our programs, why should they decide
anything else.
I like starting early, because we get a week off in October, the best time
for vacations. My son is ALWAYS bored by the second week in July. I would
just cringe if I had more weeks to have to come up with more activites. I
like have two months off, and couldn't see having more. JH
