Just wondering some stuff:
Can you assume your kinders have computer experience? are you going to have to
start out with stuff as basic as what and what not to touch/ how to handle the
equipment? Or do they get to kinder already knowing all about it because of
video games and such?
I have only worked one on one with a kinder and a computer, but she already
knew what the drill was. This was a kid with no computer at home. She was
very interested in an architecture program- can't remember what it was exactly,
but you got to choose different building parts and architectural elements to
create a picture of a building. I think the computer skills she needed/
developed were simple mouse skills- movement and coordinating when to click to
get stuff to happen. Also she was just getting the idea of menus- how to get a
new blank to start over, how to change colors. She was just recognizing the
cause and effect patterns.
Best tip I picked up in a class on teaching technology was to have students
turn off the monitors when you want them to listen to instructions.
