I don't know of any written publications, but here are my thoughts:

a)why display work: Children love to see their work displayed. It gives them
a chance to discuss what they have accomplished. When children know their
work is to be displayed they will put in extra effort to achieve the desired
results. It also shows that you, the teacher, are proud of their work.

b) what effect do displays have on children, visitors and the school
community as a whole: Displaying work shows everyone that learning is taking
place. Visitors walk into a school that has displays and they can visually
tell that students are actively involved in the learning process.

 c) the history of change in display: ?? Not sure what you are asking here

d) how children learn and how this is related to display: Children learn by
seeing, hearing, and applying that knowledge in hands on activites. Again,
displaying work shows that the learner is actively engaged. It also gives
the student a chance to see their work in different time settings, and thus,
different ways to reflect upon that assignment.
