WARNING (and questions) about X-Actos w/safety caps

Hi all -

WARNING to everyone who uses X-Acto knives with safety caps (the kind with
the round piece that slides down over the cap), at home or in the
classroom - if the cap seems to be "sticking" at all, rather than sliding
off easily, DO NOT TRY TO PULL IT OFF. This happened several times in my
classes, where the caps would kind of stick a bit, but come off after a
minor tweak in one direction or another. But 2 weeks ago, one cap was a bit
more stuck than usual. When I pulled on it, the cap came off very suddenly
and I stabbed my hand on the rebound, cutting a nerve in the side of my
finger. Surgery's this afternoon. I wanted to make sure you all knew about
this possibility. BE CAREFUL!

QUESTION: for any of you who have used x-actos with this kind of safety
cap - has anyone else out there experienced this difficulty, with the caps
not coming off very easily (the blades sort of hitching inside the cap)?

If so, please e-mail me: frostyoranges@hotmail.com

Hi-ho, hi-ho...
