My students could be more thankful....

My request....Please post to me privately (or to the list)....How miserable
your teaching conditions really are (not in a venting sort of way....but
matter of fact). My students need to realize just how great they have it! I
am so thankful I do not have the problems so many of you face everyday.

Please no need to think about this now....This is a project I want to
develop over the summer. Just save this to refer to later. I am writing it
now because it is on my mind.

My own personal little goal is to get the students I teach to realize their
school DOESN'T 'SUCK' (oh no I wrote that word!!!).....I do not allow that
word in my class at all....I hate it. I give them a minor misconduct every
time I hear it sneak out (then I talk to the child privately). Nothing ever
happens with those little minor misconduct violations, because my little
private talks at least get them to realize our school does not "suck" -- at
least not in the art room.

Curt shared his wisdom with me..."Middle school kids are the most honest
people on the planet." He is right. I am honest with them and they are
honest with me.

I have lots to share about the classrooms in Mali.....I have some idea of
the inner city schools....

Thanks Maggie for helping me put this idea together.

P.S. I will re-post this when I start to work on my projects. What I have in
mind is some kind of service project for my students to do...I just don't
have time to put it all together now....too much to do...too little time
(ha-ha). I kept my supply orders for next year very general so I wouldn't
have to plan my projects now for next year...One thing at a time, please.
