I would think twice about having "Open Art" afterschool as compared to an
"Open Studio"~what's the difference? One, the Open Art, would cut into your
enrollment, where it is possible kids would choose that option instead of
signing up for your class, and you could eventually work your way out of a
job, whereas the open studio environment would be for kids that are in your
class to come and work on their projects.
As for Art Clubs and their attention spans, it is necessary to have "purpose"
for the club, and that could include communtiy service art projects, working
on the sets for the school plays, doing art/bulletin boards for other
teachers, etc...thus you are NOT teaching art classes afterschool, but using
your talents and those of your students to help others.
