Monet Study-Impressionism - Grade 3or4
Another blotto print project that is highly successful and the results are
beautiful:
Materials: tempra paint supplies(rinse water, brushes, paint, paper
towels)
9x12 paper (manilla or white drawing) I use
manilla for this
newspaper(table covering)
chalk
Process:
1. The students fold the paper the long way resulting in
a folded piece 41/2 x12
2. The students will so a simple pencil outline of water
and trees and bushes along the shore.
(The water will be from the center line of the
paper, the trees will be towards the top edge)
3. The student will paint the water on the one side of
the paper and fold.
4. The student will using different greens, yellows,
oranges, magenta, etc. paint tree and bushes and
fold. (the students may paint with one color and fold etc., repeat until
finished)
5. The resulting blotto is a beautiful shore line and
water with the reflection.
6. When the painting has dried, the students go back in
to the artwork using chalk to work in the sky,
more details on the bushes and trees, ripples in the water etc., leaving the
reflected area more subtle.
