I taught art on a cart for 3 years and so I know what you will be
facing. I think that there are many challenges and I would be happy to
share those with you, but I do think that there are rewards to teaching on a
cart! What you may ask are the rewards? I really got to know the teachers
whose classrooms I was in and they got to know me and my style. I have to
say that those same teachers are my biggest advocates now and also they are
the ones that I communicate with the most for ideas and help. While I would
not want to go back on the cart and I can see why you resist, I would say
there are pluses if you look for them.
If I can help at all contact me and I would be happy to.

Subject: HELP! They want to put my art class on a cart!
I'm looking for some help and possibly research on the problems created
for an art program, the students, the teacher, the school building, etc.,
when art ends up being taught off of a cart, going from room to room.
Anything from personal experiences (you are on a cart already), research
on the topic, magazine articles or how to find them; any of this would be
great. With the right evidence, I may be able to ward this off through
our district Board of Education. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I am posting this on 5/14/01. I have about two weeks to get a defense of
my position together.
