I set my kids up to do acrylic paintings with Cromacryl in 1/2 gallons, with pumps in each. I supply styrofoam plates, where kids can conveniently pump about a nickel/quarter sized amount on the rim and mix in the center of the plate. They can rinse plates off and re-use them. When dry and hardened, the bottom of the plate can be used. I purchased a small set of four Dynasty hog bristle brushes, and a diamond palette knife for each student. They are responsible to clean these brushes and store them in their art locker.

I saved old Crayola tempera pint plastic jars, took a carpet knife and cut them in half for water containers.

My only problem with the student grade Cromacryl is that the cool red color appears slightly soluable, which tells me not enough polymer was added at the factory. Thus if you brush over gloss medium later, the red might smear. My solution was to pick up a few cans of Krylon Clear Spray varnish, saving those for students making more use of the red.

We paint on 18" x 24" Fredrix stretchers and cotton canvas gessoed with Utrecht gesso, or 1/8" thick masonite. I personally adhere canvas to masonite and birch veneer panels with acrylic medium...let dry, then fold canvas over the back apply medium and let dry for my own work.

I am part of an online artist's community of 3300 artists, and a contributing editor there. The site receives about 65,000 hits per month. My community and school appreciated the exposure I gave the students by putting their works up for critique from artists. This was both exciting and scary to be judged from such for the students, but it created quite the buzz. I know some are concerned about names of students being given online...but it was a point of pride for our area. A bigger than life allure.
I'll post a few here...take a look...see the kind of comments. It brought me a lot of respect from administration.... -Larry
