Re: ordering supplies

We bought the Blickrylics as an alternative to that nasty tempera paint this year. The only benefit to the acrylic vs. the tempera was that it does not have the dry, powdery finish. They are not high quality at all, very thin, and forget about buying the pumps w/ the large bottles; they clog up or don't work to start with. :(

FYI IMHO The Portfolio acrylics are a good school grade acrylic. If you want a higher grade, I'd go with the Liquitex. The Van Gogh watercolors are very vibrant and I think you would like them. If I had to rate the brands you mentioned, they would be Prang,Grumbacher, Van Gogh and Cotman. Hope this helps. Judy

I'm in the process of getting my supply order ready for next year.

        Acrylics:
What brand/brands of acrylic paint do you like for your high school classes?
What do you think about Portfolio acrylics?
My students do a lot of painting in the advanced classes on heavyweight watercolor paper.

        Watercolor:
I have the Prang watercolor sets and as they use up a color, I just refill the containers from tube watercolors. I have been using Grumbacher and Cotman. Has anyone used the VanGogh brand of watercolor in the tubes? What do you think of them?
