I assume these are color printouts that you want ot make. The amount of
available ram will affect printing time more than anything else. Even if you
have alot of ram, it's going to take awhile. I have a top of the line Mac
with 600M of ram and it takes about 12 minutes to run out a single 8.5x11
sheet at high quality. Here are some general thoughts:
- printing 75 full pages at high quality is probably cost-prohibitive. It
will probably blow thru 2 sets of ink cartridges, maybe more. I would try to
squeeze a bunch of smaller images on each sheet.... such as 4 4x5 prints on a
single sheet. Then the project only takes up 20 sheets.
- to speed things you will want to reduce file size. use 150 dpi for the
resolution, instead of 300 or 600. Then save it as a high-quality jpeg to
compress it. Open the jpeg file and print it. You'll barely notice the
reduction in quality, and because the file size has been reduced it won't be
a drain on ram.
- the choice of paper makes all the difference in the quality. Get the glossy
(.50-$1 a sheet). It'll make the prints look more like actual photos.
-the computer doesn't make everything cheaper and faster. This is probably
one example. You could use traditional photography, shooting on 2-3 rolls of
film, save alot of time and money and have higher quality.
