pencils cups and erasers

I use empty soda liter bottles for pencil cups. I cut off the top and leave
the bottom ( about 6 in) for the cups for pencils shavings. Each cup is
numbered for the table it is used at. I also keep a few cut up Pink Pearl
erasers in the cups with a steel hand sharpener.
To assure that the sharpeners "do not walk". I have two "table checkers"
assigned for each class that pass out the cups at the beginning of each class
and pick them up at the end and check for the sharpeners. It works quite well
for my middle schoolers. I maybe lose 2 sharpeners a year.
We still use the heavy duty electric sharpener for the colored pencils.
