Tile mural

We are doing a ceramic mural for the local hospital. We used 3" x 3" lino
block designs to stamp into the plastic clay in a "checkerboard" pattern.
The tiles are 6 x 9 so 3 squares can be stamped with alternating plain
areas, if you can picture that. The squares are abstract designs of pattern
from nature or cultural history. For glazing, we antiqued with a dark
underglaze ( brush on and wipe off so the glaze remains in the recessed
areas) and then we lightly sponge painted a light colored underglaze on the
high areas. Lastly, we clear gloss glazed them. We used about 4 dark and 4
light colors- the kids can use whatever combination of light and dark they
wish and yet the mural retains a unified feel. It's not finished yet but I
am pysched to see it once it is hung.
