Almost ANY good quality colored pencil will tend to split...especially
Prismacolor Berol...in a reg. pencil sharpener so you're going to need to
purchase some small hand-held pencil sharpeners to avoid your problem. NASCO
has the best price and kind to use if you check their catalogue. Get the
small kind that come with extra blades. My kids get one sharpener per table
plus a little metal dish for shavings. Cost Plus has those small metal
dishes for $1.99 each and they're bullet-proof.
BTW...I have been touting lately the newer version of Prang colored pencils
(the 6mm variety...large ones) which is the closest to Berol that I've seen
but slightly cheaper. Some of you ordered them and got a bad bunch. My last
order from Molly Hawkins Art Supplies (first time I ordered these from
them...on sale) included a bad bunch also and now I know what some of you
are going through with these. I just re-glued them with Elmer's but it IS a
pain in the backside. They are STILL my favorite pencils, though, and I've
been using them for at least two-three years. They last FOREVER and cover
extremely well. Toodles....Bunki
