Thank you for taking the time to offer ideas and support to me in my art and craft club undertaking. At the present time there are no firing facilities at the college where I work. Ceramics is actually my specialist subject area and it is a shame that it is one that I am unable to practice at work!
At the present time, it seems extremely unlikely that any funds are likely to become available for this area. The only kiln that I have access to is at home! Obviously, this is relatively small and not really suitable for firing large batches of student work!
I have , in the past carried out very small scale work with some students (beads for jewellery making, small pinch pots and the like).
Although the rooms have easy clean areas and are well ventilated, there is nowhere suitable for mixing glazes and the like!
Who knows what the future might hold and contacts are always useful to have, so I would be interested inhearing more about your idea.
However, sadly, it is unlikely that ceramics is an area that we can cover in this programme, unless ways can be found to get around the problem.
I have dropped serious hints at work today that this is an area that needs considering for expansion. If any progress is made, I will let you know!
Thank you again for your time and trouble.
> Dear Margaret,
>As a Sales Manager at a Ceramic Manufacturing Company with a distributor in
>England, (Stoke-On-Trent), I could help you with a ceramics type class or 2
>hour projects. The sticky point is that you would need a kiln. Do you think
>you could get the funds for this equipment. If so, please let me know and I
>could refer you to one of our teachers.
>I wish you well in your project.
