I have a question about mixing colored mason stains into clear
glaze. I use Mayco clear glaze, low fire, food safe, etc. One
of my friends, also an elem art teacher, uses powdered mason
stains to get colored glaze. I worked under her for one year
and I have been doing this now as well. Plus, she gave a
workshop to all the elem art teachers in our district and they
all do it. Now, after seeing some of these posts about glazes,
I am worried. We did it as a way to let the children have some
color to their glazed pieces, as pre-mixed colors are TOO
expensive and WAY out of our $1 per child budget. Anyway, I
ALWAYS tell the kids not to eat or drink out of their pots, only
to use them for things like paper clips or sea shells, etc.
Thanks for your info!
