In answer to "What kinds of art activities cause repetitive strain injury?"

Almost everything. Calligraphy, basketry, drawing and painting, carving, even
working in clay. My doctor told me that motions which cup the fingers
together are worse than other repetitive motions. That includes an awful lot
of art activities. I got mine before I started using a computer, and if I do
very much of these types of projects I have to go back to using a wrist
support at night for a few weeks.
