I just completed a very successful lesson creating a geodesic dome out
of rolled newspapers. I got the idea from a crafts magazine.

1. Use 4 sheets of paper for thickness and roll into a long tube,
ea. tube the same size. Shorter is stronger
2. Make 5 triangles with the rolled paper, stapling them together.
3. Join with rolled papers on top of triangles .
4. Then finish with a pentagram of 5 rolled papers for the top.
5. They are painting it right now and it looks super.
The environmental lesson is that the geo dome was invented by Bucky
Fuller as a project to invent a dwelling that would be made quickly,
economically, with a minimum of materials and heated efficiently, etc.
For research have your students find sites on the web for geodesic dome
and Buckminster Fuller.
