Weaving facts and a question about colleges

Hi all,
A fact about weaving...it is one of those activities that seemed to have
developed independently in various parts of the world. I don't think
antone has yet figured out where it developed first.
Question about colleges....I am thinking about sending my daughter to
college in the US but cannot figure out how it all fits together. Eg.
What is a community college? And a post graduate course? If there is any
body on the list who can help me through this mine-field I would
appreciate it.
