Here is an idea that I got from what you said you had on hand. Have the kids
look in magazines and rip or tear nicely, colors from the magazines. Set up
boxes labeled blue, red, yellow, orange, brown, black, white, etc., etc., and
have them put the scrapes into the boxes. Have them draw out a landscape,
seascape or cityscape from other picture but have them simplify them. Or, use
a still life of fruit or simple shapes, and then with the colored pieces paste
down onto the construction paper, overlap and create color gradations (slow
change from one color or value to another). The images will be like a crude
mosaic but could be very interesting. Trim off the outside edges and paste
onto another piece of construction board and whala!
