I am writing in response to a request for ideas on Jurassic theme and
I did a Dinosaur lesson a few years back. We made a time line when many
of the dinosaurs appeared and became extinct up to the present day man.
I made a comparison of years to inches. I don't remember the ratio
right off hand but it kind of depends on how long you want your time
line to be. It was probably many thousands of years to an inch. I
wrote the names of the dinosaurs and the students drew and colored that
dinosaur. I used construction paper pieces and taped them together. It
made it portable that way.
This gave my students a better understanding of how long the dinosaurs
existed on the Earth. The life of man was less than a pencil scratch in
length and some of the dinosaurs existence covered half of length of one
wall. I am not an art major so I know that someone could take this idea
and make it very interesting.
