To all...I thought I'd let you all in on a 'happening' of the day. I walked
into my first grade class and found a parent. Her son was sitting on her lap
and she was giving me the ol' once over. She wouldn't let him get up off her
lap the whole class! We were making LARGE cut paper dinosaurs which required
the skills that this boy DOES have....she was treating him like her was 3!
She actually drew out the shapes that he needed to make himself. I didn't
say anything because the kids were always around and with every remark that
I made about what a great job everyone was doing with this large
project...she got no hint. The child regressed into that 3 year old
mentality too. I couldn't believe my eyes! This isn't the first time its
happened when parents happen to come in. It's like they can't let them "be".
If they only saw what they were like when they weren't there!!!!! I wanted
to say to her..he should really be doing it on his own, etc..but I had two
other bodies in there as well. Has anyone confronted a loving, but butting
in parent before? Oh, thank goodness it's FRIDAY. I have got a STACK of
STUFF to go through this weekend! Anyone have any interesting grade 6 ideas?
I have NO preference. I just want to keep them busy till JUNE!!! (They are
fading fast) ADIOS! Stephanie
